Jennings County, Indiana

Jennings County Government Annex

The new Jennings County Government Center is located across the street from the original 1876 courthouse (lower right corner). The new building utilizes some of the features of the original courthouse in a simplified version. The brick on the new building matched toe existing building.

The new building incorporates an energy efficient HVAC system by utilizing air-to-air heat exchangers (left).

The new building also includes a new central data and voice system for both buildings. Underground conduit was placed between the buildings for transfer of data and voice systems. The old courthouse is now dedicated to the courts. This includes 2 courts, clerk, and probation. The main feature of the new annex building is the open oak stairway in the lobby with the 2-story arched windows. 90% of the basement is dedicated to storage for the county offices.
