Projects/Community Centers

City of Franklin

Community Center & Banquet Hall

The main lobby of the building is a multiplex of several types of materials. The second floor walking track is surrounded with a blue steel railing. The stairs sit on the corridor wall which allows clear passage under them. The main structure of the lobby is timber framing. The large timber members are supported mid-span with horizontal members, which creates a simple grid. The 40’ rock type wall is used by members of the community center and also by fire rescue teams for exercises.

Some of the functions in the lobby include:

  • Snack bar Climbing wall

  • Central information desk

  • Internet connected computers

  • Tables & chairs for conversation

The lobby is the place were people meet at the end of a long day to use the facility. The climbing wall is one of the central pieces in the lobby.
